Eagle Insurance promotes safety in the festive season
- 14 April, 2004
Eagle Insurance Company has launched a comprehensive safety awareness programme in a bid to create an accident free environment during the festive season. The emphasis will be on the dangers of lighting firecrackers and driving under the influence of liquor.

A series of 'safety warnings' are now broadcast over radio & TV stressing the need to be careful when lighting crackers, the importance of avoiding driving under the influence of liquor and to be vigilant while shopping for the festive season thereby preventing any possible accidents.

This year’s Eagle safety awareness campaign is targeted at children and adults. The latter will be exposed to a series of new communications on radio, developed specifically to discourage lighting firecrackers while under the influence of liquor. A spokesman for Eagle Insurance was quoted as saying. “ Ours is a clear and simple message with a strong emotional appeal. We hope that people will be moved to realise the danger of being careless with crackers”.

It's over a decade since Eagle Insurance launched the safety awareness building initiative. The emphasis of this initiative was four fold – to prevent accidents at home, on the road, while at play and at the workplace. The safety campaign has been continued right through with enthusiastic response from the public.

"Over the years, the Company has been able to show the public that very often accidents happen because of ignorance, negligence, apathy, bad habits and wrong attitudes. We have proved that accidents can be prevented if sufficient awareness is created about risks, safety precautions and by doing things the right way. Recent statistics released by the Health Ministry and Police have shown a drop in certain types of accidents but road accidents have increased in recent years. Driving under the influence of liquor has been the main cause of these accidents" a Company spokesman said.
