"Eagle - Insurance Development Oration Trust" Launched -1 January, 2002
Eagle Insurance - a Company committed to excellence and continuous professional development, has extended a hand towards another pioneering initiative to promote knowledge sharing and development of professionalism within the local insurance industry.
This initiative is in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute and will be in the form of an annual oration by a selected insurance professional on a selected subject. It will have to be backed by local context research and experiences.
To support this initiative an " Eagle - Insurance Development Oration Trust " will be set up to finance the annual costs of a gold sovereign medal to the Best Orator.
The furtherance of professionalism in the industry, is especially relevant in the context of globalisation and the changing local regulatory environment and will no doubt add value to insurance industry participants in Sri Lanka.
This scheme is a further demonstration of the Company (which is a member of the Zurich Financial Services Group ) 's commitment to the local market, with some of its other corporate responsibility activities including the setting up of the A S Mani Memorial Trust Award for the Best Acturial student , the sponsoring of the National Safety Awards for the safest workplace and Safety awareness programmes as well as the awarding of scholarships to Year Five scholarship winners since 1994.
Eagle as a company has since its inception continuously promoted professionalism internally and has earned the reputation of being a Company to invest large sums in human resource development. In addition to the continuous sales training programmes conducted in its local Training Centre, the Company has sent the largest numbers of sales personnel for foreign training programmes within the industry. All levels of staff too have benefited from the global exposure gained through it affiliation to the Zurich Financial Services Group.
