Zurich Financial Services Group: Appointments to Group Management Board - 6 September, 2001
Zurich, September 6, 2001.- The Board of Directors of Zurich Financial Services has appointed Monica Mächler-Erne and Hans-Jürg Bernet to the Group Management Board of Zurich Financial Services, which now includes 24 members.
Monica Mächler-Erne (1956) received both her law degree and her Ph.D. from the University of Zurich. After working as a lawyer for a number of years, she joined Zurich as a corporate legal advisor. In March 1999, she was appointed General Counsel and Company Secretary of Zurich Financial Services.
Hans-Jürg Bernet (1949) completed his studies at the University of St. Gallen with a doctorate in economics before joining Zurich in 1977. In 1994, he became a member of the Management Team of Zurich Switzerland. Effective September 10, 2001, he will take over as CEO of Zurich Switzerland from Peter Eckert who is now head of the new Continental Europe Business Division of the Zurich Financial Services Group.
